Report Provision Service

1. Bail Information Report

A Bail Information Report is a pre-bail report prepared by a Probation Officer. This report can only be prepared by a Probation Officer after a court of law gives an order for the report to be done. The report gives a brief background on the accused person and provides an assessment on the accused person’s suitability for bail or bond. After the Bail Information Report is ready, it is submitted to the court by a Probation Officer. The court will then make a decision on the matter using its discretion. 

2. Probation Officer’s Report

A Probation Officer’s Report is a pre-sentence report prepared by a Probation Officer. This report is prepared by a Probation Officer after a court of law gives an order for the report to be done. The report contains a background of the accused person or offender, the circumstances of the offence, previous criminal history, an assessment of the attitude of the offender towards the offence, an assessment of the attitude of the offender’s family, the victim and/or the community towards the offender and the offence, a rehabilitation plan and a recommendation. After the Probation Officer’s Report is ready, it is submitted to the court by a Probation Officer. The court will then make a decision on the matter using its discretion.

3. Community Service Officer's Report

A Community Service Officer’s Report is a pre-sentence report prepared by a Community Service Officer. A Community Service Officer is also a Probation Officer. The report contains a background of the accused person or offender, the circumstances of the offence, previous criminal history, an assessment of the attitude of the offender towards the offence, an assessment of the attitude of the offender’s family, the victim and/or the community towards the offender and the offence, and a recommendation on the community service agency where the offender will work. After the Community Service Officer’s Report is ready, it is submitted to the court by a Community Service Officer. The court will then make a decision on the matter using its discretion.

4. Sentence Review Report

A Sentence Review Report is a post-sentence report prepared by a Community Service Officer. This report is prepared by a Community Service Officer (who is also a Probation Officer) after a court of law, in this case, the High Court gives an order for the report to be prepared. The reports are prepared for the purpose of reviewing prison terms of convicted offenders already serving their time in prison. A Sentence Review Report contains a background of the accused person or offender, the circumstances of the offence, previous criminal history, an assessment of the attitude of the offender towards the offence, an assessment of the attitude of the offender’s family, the victim and/or the community towards the offender and the offence, and a recommendation on the community service agency where the offender will work. After the Probation Officer’s Report is ready, it is submitted to the court by a Probation Officer. The court will then make a decision on the matter using its discretion. 

5. Victim Impact Statement Report

A Victim Impact Statement Report is a Probation Officer’s Report prepared by a Probation Officer on the victim of an offence. This type of report is prepared after a court of law gives an order for a Probation Officer to prepare the report. The Victim Impact Statement Report mainly contains an assessment of the impact of the offence committed against the victim. When the report is ready, it is submitted to the court by a Probation Officer. The court will then make use of the findings at its discretion.

6. Power of Mercy Pre-release Report

A Power of Mercy Pre-release Report is a post-sentence report prepared by a Probation Officer. Offenders serving their terms in prison may make a petition for the exercise of the power of mercy so long as they are not on probation, or serving a suspended sentence, or have a pending matter court. The Power of Mercy Pre-release Reports are prepared following a formal request from the Power of Mercy Advisory Committee. Upon receiving the request, a Probation Officer will prepare the report. The report contains general information on the petitioner, the circumstances of the offence, an assessment of the attitude of the offender towards the offence, an assessment of the attitude of the offender’s family, the victim and/or the community towards the offender and the offence, it also contains a release, resettlement and reintegration plan and a recommendation. After the Power of Mercy Pre-release Report is ready, it is submitted to the Power of Mercy Advisory Committee. 

7. Environmental Adjustment Reports

An Environmental Adjustment Report is a post-sentence and/or pre-release report prepared by a Probation Officer. This type of report is prepared following requests from Probation Hostel, Borstal Institution, Rehabilitation School, or Youth Correctional Facility to advice on the home environment of an offender for pre-release planning. Upon receiving a formal request to prepare the Environmental Adjustment Report, a Probation Officer will prepare the report. The report contains generation information on the offender, the offence, an assessment of the attitude of the offender’s family, the victim and/or the community towards the offender and the offence, it also contains a release, resettlement and reintegration plan and a recommendation. After the Environmental Adjustment Reports is ready, it is submitted to the requesting agency for pre-release planning
